That is so cool. I had no idea these were available to purchase. I am a big fan of fuseproject so I am also interested in taking a closer look at the laptop.

I'm on my 5th attempt at Linux, 3 of those trying to get a dual head system going. The first was with an ATI card. I don't remember the number, but it was a good card, not sometig out of the 1970's. Would not work with Open SUSE.
The second try was with SUSE but with an Nvidia GeForce 9800 card. No dice. This year I'm trying Ubuntu with the same computer and the same card. Ubuntu let my once use a resolution of 1024x7xx, but never dual head and now won't give me any resolution over 800x600.
If I were anyone supporting Linux I would be embarassed and start making excuses. Instead they aren't embarassed.
I'm on my second week trying to solve this so I might learn wat Linux can do, not what it can't do. Ive learned over the years what Linux can't do: anything.

Hi, Andrew.

My name is Paul and I was just checking out the details on Obama's visit tomorrow and ran across your site. Me, like you as well have been following Barack for some time now, and he truly is amazing. My brother lives just over an hour away as he's in the Navy, but can't make it tomorrow because he has to play golf with his soon to be father in law.

I'm so glad you're a part of the movement, and hope you really enjoy the rally. My Mom and little sister (11) saw him in NJ on Monday, and had an amazing time. My Mom's been following him for years, and told me about him 2 years back.

Take care, Paul

I haven't been using the MSN gateway for some time now. It will work but too many issues that make it a pain.

If you used psi to add the contacts, you can set it to auto-authorize. Also, when you add them back in, it may require your contacts to authorize you again. That was one of the problems I remember having.

If only MS would give up on the Mac MSN Messenger client and just write an iChat plugin ...

My new card was an AGP NVidia. The 400SC can't do PCI Express. Performance is good. I keep thinking I will upgrade to a new Linux box but the 400SC still chugs along. Running Ubuntu 7.10 on it now. However, there is a pretty serious memory leak in the NVidia driver if you enable Compiz. My machine at work is much worse than my home machine.

is the card you picked AGP or PCI/PCI Express?
I'm looking for a new card, had the same you did but heard that the 400sc doesn't accept PCI Express

99% of the time i keep my laptop turned ON, it's also connected to the Internet. Great thing, i don't have to have to store such an amount of rarely useful information just for the 1% of the time I am offline.

Not only a waste of space since offline i can still access documents i've created while i had an Internet connection (including any eventual single email backup) it's a security concern to have such an amount of critical information in one place like this (laptop, desktop...).

That's not all, If emails are not kept in the server, because they are on the local machine, there is another disadvantage associated with the fact that you will be stuck to the machine where your email client is configured what means you can't read email from any other place you might need.

I can think in more disadvantages like an useless program taking more than 300 MB (Mail) that doesn't have some interesting capabilities of the GMail Web client,... anyway i think i've explained why they haven't gave much of attention for IMAP support and still reached such a successful position.

The state of cms/blogging software on rails is still weak. Maybe it is because of what you said, that it is so easy to build a cms in a couple of hours. But still I think the RoR community should go with one and strengthen it. Something like mephisto, typo, or radiant could be great contenders to wordpress if their roadmaps got more serious.
