Walking on The Moon

The Police are back. I went to the show tonight in Seattle. I honestly never thought I’d see The Police live so it was quite a thrill.Synchronicity was one of the first cassette tapes I got. I’m not sure I understood it but my mom didn’t like it so it had to be good. I was 13 when they took over the world. By the time I was going to concerts, they had disbanded. I’ve seen Sting several times solo but The Police are a very different thing. The show tonight was fantastic. They played like a band who has been apart for over 20 years. It took 3 or 4 songs to hit their stride. But once they did, it was very good. My favorites were Wrapped Around Your Finger, King of Pain, and Can’t Stand Losing You. All three had a new vibe that worked well. Most songs had a new interpretation. I also liked how they blended motifs and colors from each album’s art into the show, changing it for each song. The Ghost In The Machine graphics were very cool during Spirits in The Material World. My biggest complaint was that they opened with Message In a Bottle. It just wasn’t very good. I think they should have closed with it. Sting has dramatically changed this song over time. At the very end of his concert movie Bring On The Night, Sting plays Message In a Bottle solo with his acoustic guitar. The song is transformed and I always prefer that take on it.

Hey Andrew! Great post. I will be seeing The Police here in Louisville on July 14th. They will be playing at Churchill Downs (The Rolling Stones played the first ever concert there last year and everyone had great things to say about it, so we are looking forward to it). My very first concert I ever went to was The Police’s farewell tour. I was in 7th grade and it was awesome. I am a very big fan and I can’t wait to see them again. So, how’s your golf game? :)
