I’ve been at Jobster for a whole week now and we already shipped! In fact, we shipped a pretty major service upgrade. It went very well. I shouldn’t even say we - I had next to nothing to do with it. But it was good to see it all in action.
It’s been a great week. I’m dead tired as I’ve been trying to cram in as much as I can about what we are doing, how the code works, and learning how we do things. To top it all off, I need to quickly get on top of Java/Spring/Hibernate. I’ve had some experience with all of these before but mostly from a systems design point of view. I haven’t done very much coding with it. I’m going to still do some design work but I also need to get my hands dirty.
So, after a week, here are my observations:
- I love the energy here.
- I love the belief that we can do really big things.
- There aren’t enough hours in the day.
- Java IDE’s suck. Or maybe I suck. Whatever, I can’t create projects the way I want.
- Jason Goldberg is really good at what he does. He was a big reason I came to the company and seeing him in action only reinforces it.
