I wrote about how my old Avocent KVM died. I replaced it with an IOGear KVM that I’ve been very happy with. Before I got the IOGear, I sent a question to the Avocent support guys about whether they thought my old KVM was dead or not. Turns out, they were happy to replace my old unit with a new (and better) unit called SwitchView MM1. Unlike the old unit, this one includes audio switching. It’s not as good as the IOGear but it is a decent box. Note that the Avocent guys were very cool about this in that the old box was at least 3 years old. They even set 4 full sets of cables! That’s what I call customer service. I put it on my “server rack” for my two Linux boxes so it will see some usage.
