Spent the day traveling from Seattle to Greenville, SC (via Chicago). Pretty easy trip considering. Got an entire section to myself on the flight from Seattle to Chicago. I could actual tolerate flying if the seat next to me was always open.
Tonight was the intro dinner where everyone in the class got to meet and receive our first session with the instructors. There are 15 people in the class. There is a pretty good mix of veterans and first timers (like myself). One guy picked up his M3 this morning at the BMW plant here. We were split into 3 teams in which we will be competing tomorrow afternoon. I think I travelled the furthest. One guy came from California. Most are from the eastern half. More than a few drove 7-10 hours. I guess it was an excuse to drive their BMW’s.
I’m actually getting a little nervous. This class is going to be intense. They are going to push us as drivers and show off the technology of BMW. We’ll be doing cornering technique including how to pick your braking zone and how to perform the turn. It’s not the way you think it is. We’ll also be spending time on the skid pad. Our instructor is hoping some people show enough ability that he can teach the powerslide. I hope I’m up to the class. It’s going to be tough.
